WEDDINGS

Often times couples ask me for my professional opinion on whether they should have a first look or not.  I have to say, I have no opinion on it because I think that’s a decision that should be left solely to the couple.  I’ve photographed some beautiful, emotion filled first looks before the ceremony… And then there are weddings like Sarah & Michael.

Sarah & Michael chose to keep the tradition of seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle in church.  The church was the Alice Millar Chapel at Northwestern University, where Sarah’s mother worked at for many years.  Sarah grew up strolling the campus with her mother and it became a second home to her.  The moment Sarah entered the chapel on her wedding day was beautiful, her eyes were bright and vivid and filled with a mixture of happiness and nerves. The whole room seemed to still and move in slow motion as she made her way down the aisle.  Then, Michael’s reaction was so genuine, so full of joy. That moment was special, and so memorable.

When it comes to weddings, the same philosophy applies as in life: Do what feels right for you.
